Houston Law Firm
Motorcycle Accident Attorney

Due to the complex nature of the Houston, Texas highway system, many motorcycle accidents occur. If you have been injured in a bike accident, you should contact a personal injury attorney right away.

Due to the specific nature of motorcycle related accidents, the effects can be extremely devastating and an unfortunately high number are even fatal. If you or a family member have been injured in a motorcycle accident recently, it's important to get the help of an experienced attorney to assist you in making and winning your case. Houston-area motorcycle injury attorney Scott Callahan has the knowledge and experience to handle accidents not only in the local area, but also nationwide.

The following are some specific facts and statistics about motorcycle accidents:

  • In 2008, 5,290 motorcyclists were killed. This compares to less than 4,000 5 years prior (an increase of over 30%).
  • The largest demographic of motorcycle deaths occurs in the age groups of under 20 and over 50 years of age.
  • In 2008, 96,000 motorcycle riders were injured.
  • Per vehicle-mile traveled, motorcyclists are about 37 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a traffic crash.
  • You can find much more data within the following article:http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pubs/811159.pdf

There is a lot of good that can come from motorcycling as well. Sales of motorcycles have increased steadily over the past several years and it is easy to understand why. The freedom and satisfaction for motorcyclists along with the incredible fuel efficiency are considered to be worth the risks to many bikers. If you find yourself or a family member in the unfortunate situation of a motorcycle-accident due to the carelessness of another driver, you should seek legal counsel to get the compensation you deserve for the injuries you've undoubtedly experienced. It's unjust for you to have to suffer from the negligence of another, and that's why Houston injury attorney Scott Callahan wants to fight for your rights as a law-abiding citizen of the road.

Houston's freeway system includes 575.5 miles (926.2 km) of freeways and expressways in the 10-county metro area. The State of Texas plans to spend $5.06 billion on Houston area highways between 2002 and 2007. Houston freeways are heavily traveled and often under construction to meet the demands of continuing growth.

The Greater Houston area has a hub-and-spoke freeway structure with multiple loops. The innermost is Interstate 610, forming approximately a 10-mile (20 km) diameter loop around downtown. The roughly square "Loop 610" is quartered into "North Loop," "South Loop," "West Loop," and "East Loop." The roads of Beltway 8 and their freeway core, the Sam Houston Tollway, are the next loop, at a diameter of roughly 25 miles (40 km). A proposed highway project, State Highway 99 (The Grand Parkway), would form a third loop outside of Houston. Currently, the completed portion of State Highway 99 runs from just north of Interstate 10, west of Houston, to U.S. Highway 59 in Sugar Land, southwest of Houston, and was completed in 1994. The next portion to be constructed is from the current terminus at U.S. Highway 59 to State Highway 288 in Brazoria County. Freeways also include the Westpark Tollway, which runs from U.S. Hwy 59 to Texas Hwy 99 and the Fort Bend Parkway, which runs from U.S. Hwy 90-A to Texas Hwy 6 in Missouri City (Reference: Wikipedia)
